High Definition Broadcasting

What is it and how does it affect Makeup and Hair artists?

High Definition Broadcasting is a display technology that provides a higher quality of picture on our TV screens. The increased number of pixels on the screen that is featured in HDTV allows for this higher quality image to be shown to us.
I can imagine this is very difficult for makeup artists as they have to make sure that the makeup is completely perfected so that there are no mistakes that show up on HDTV. As the picture is much sharper and of a higher quality in HD, the makeup will probably need to be less so that it does look like the actor is wearing no makeup and blended in well so that it doesn't come off during action, and so that it also covers up any imperfections that the actor may have on their skin. Furthermore the sharper image will probably highlight any uneven parts to the makeup that will make it look slightly odd, so artists are probably very vigilant to make sure that every part of the makeup is correct and even.
